On 20th July 2021, I was experiencing a massive writers block whilst trying to think of the direction I wanted for my blog. I was concentrating on my ‘niche’ because if you have followed me for at least a while, you will see that I am a little all over the place.
So my friend suggested why don’t I invite my readers to read things I like around London – focus on London and branch out from there. On that day, I wrote the post – Most Beautiful Restaurants in London (in my humble opinion) and that post featured Saint Aymes as number 3.
Three is my favourite number and so the Saint Aymes got all the praise as number 3 for me. I also remember manifesting that this beautiful café – voted as the prettiest café in London, also being black owned, I was going to be friends with the owners – at the time I did not know how it was going to happen. Fast forward to 21st January 2023, me walking into the Saint Aymes – now a beautiful event venue (no longer a café) for a brunch with my girl friend Jas.
Hugging Lois and Michaela – now actual friends of mine and receiving a hugged introduction to Lillian Jackson and Melissa Mason (founders of Brown Skin Brunchin’). I am so proud. Lois and Michaela spoke of their journey of how Saint Aymes came about – starting from luxury chocolate, to a luxury café and then evolving into a luxury event space. So flipping inspiring!
How else can I pay amazing homage to these fierce, inspirational and beautiful black women? To use my biggest tool in my belt – my words. Lois, Michaela, you two created not only a path for other black woman but uniquely a space for those of us who love everything luxe to not feel ashamed of it.
Unapologetically Black. Unapologetically Luxe. I love everything about it and I cannot wait to see the evolution and I will be cheering from my little corner of the internet.
Love and Hugs,
