If you have been following my blog since my ‘blogger.com’ days you know how much I love the restaurant Sexy Fish. (Don’t worry if you haven’t in the coming weeks you will be able to see my old post since 2012 as I migrate them all here!) From the second day it opened in October 2015 and I had a date there I was hooked! Japanese inspired cuisine surrounding fish?! I am sooo in!
This not only because of my love for fish being a pescetarian most of my life but my slight obsession for mermaids. I am a self proclaimed geek when it comes to folklore/mythology/fantasy and although the origin stories for mermaids and mermen (aka water spirits) stem from extreme circumstances the journey birthed something beautiful – kind of represents life no?! (If you don’t know what I am talking about I will do a deep-dive one day soon about my obsession with mermaids – brace yourselves!)
Anyways – back to Sexy Fish, the restaurant. My good friend and I were looking for a reason to glam up and go out back in August and a friend of mine suggested Sexy Fish’s Flower Power brunch. They hosted two this year – one on carnival bank holiday weekend and the second on 17th September. I obviously could not go to the carnival weekend so we decided to go to the latter.
If you do not know already SF has a strict dress code for which dining there one has to abide by – but it makes for gorgeous aesthetic when capturing moments. Everyone dressed up made the atmosphere even more luxurious. Even down to the menu we impressed and on top of it we got everything in the menu!
We had flower inspired sandwiches, amazing sushi, sashimi, lobster, vegetables and so much more! There was one thing I personally did not try; watermelon with feta cheese *insert side eye emoji* defo not for me! The brunch came with bubbles and this rose drink and it was amazing as well as this rose desert thing that was DIVINE! We ordere extra drinks – the usual Pornstar Martini, tequila shot and the like; my friend even made me try orange slices with cinnamon powder as a tequila chaser. Personally, that was not for me but it was a good try to getting me to try something new!
I did not realise how tipsy I was until I ended up on the floor trying to bend over to pick up a fork that fell on the floor. LOL! And of course like a great friend, Jasmine FILMED it! I think that video is going to definitely surface on my hen night or when I am telling my teenage children drinking is not for the weakv- aka them!
I think we spent an extra £250 on top of the £124 which was for the brunch! The experience was really amazing and was not too spenny (as we are in a cost of living crisis in the UK).
The next Flower Power Brunches will be in 2023 – make sure you save your coins and go to experience. It is so worth it! Sexy Fish already gets a 6.5 out of 7 as a restaurant (only one restaurant has reached 7 and that is obviously Saint Aymes) and now it got bumped up to 6.6 – shock horror!
Tomorrow is World Tourism Day and I have some announcements for you especially regarding my podcast – The Departure Lounge Podcast!
