So we survived the bank holiday/half term chaos that occurred last week – or did we?
Here in the UK we had a ton of delays, cancelled flights and randomness happen due to the current travel boom and sorry to say but it is probably not going to change anytime soon.
A lot of airports, airlines and travel companies decided to downsize during the lockdown period (March 2020 to January 2022) as Lady Coronavirus was doing her world tour. Although, many companies during that time got bailouts from governments around the world (I am looking at you BA and Virgin) still decided to get rid of thousands of staff members.
In addition to this in the UK we have been dealing with the soaring of jobs due to Brexit and the delay in the EU settlement scheme saw a lot of European Nationals go back to their country.
All of this being said are the ingredients for this shit to hit the fan as the first time in 2 years British travellers utilising the Jubilee bank holiday and half term to go somewhere sunny with their children. So the lack of staff is the airlines/airports faults as they could have easily furloughed their staff but decided to make them redundant.
Now they are begging for them to come back – LOOOL! I would NOT go back if I was any of the ground staff, flight attendants and etc that got let go. I say that because I have friends who have been asked back and they are like HELL no!
Anyways, recipes for chaos and disaster all around. I tend to not travel during the summer months in Europe mainly due to significant crowds airports on the planes and significant increase in price! I like to ball on a budget – ghetto bougie out here!
Mid-June I am actually going to be going to Malta for the first time which is weird for me – wish me luck! (Hopefully it would not be delayed – getting to the airport hours in advance will be my advantage!)
Love and Hugs
